Initial dialog regarding working groups

Welcome!

We here at Transition US get a lot of questions on the subject of working groups: when is the best time to start them, which groups should come first, how are others rolling them out? We are creating these forums as a place for you, the leaders of the Transition Movement, to share questions, ideas, solutions. We are exploring other ways to involve a greater number of you. This is our next step.

Enjoy,

I really wish you'd turn the webinars into podcasts that we could subscribe to on iTurnes or MP3 files that we could download. Many of us spend all day chained to keyboards, staring at screens. I'd like to just listen on my iPod somewhere far more comfortable.

This is on our list of things to do however it takes some time to convert the webinars to mp3 and given our current staff it is a slow process.  The good news is that we are starting to conduct conference calls that are available immediately in mp3 format.  Stay tuned, and thanks for your feedback!

Oops! I forgot to ask...

I found the UK Transition "radio"/podcasting sites, but don't know of any in the US which are devoted wholly to Transition -- has that yet happened? I greatly look forward to it, since I like to listen to radio while washing dishes and cooking, etc. I read so much that "radio" is a nice break from reading -- while allowing me to keep learning. -- Blessings!

That is a good question James. I will do some research into this. Maybe it is an opportunity waiting to be realized :)

Hello, and thank you for creating this forum!
I'm nowhere near the stage of creating Working Groups. I'm trying what I can to find other folks here in Santa Fe who might at least mull over being a muller with me. Toward that end, I created a little blog -- http://mind4food.blogspot.com --, and am trying to create linkages to this blog and whatever publicity I can.

One of my blog posts announces in its title that I'm "officially" the only muller in Santa Fe! -- and I even linked to the Three Dog Night song about one being a lonely number. Maybe you know the tune?

I'm the sort of "leader" who prefers to work in "the kitchen" rather than the high-visibility, public roles. I don't mind being visible if I'm part of a large group and I'm not "in charge". So I really hope to find a large group to kick off something in Santa Fe, with me as just one of the guys, so to speak.

Can we please have a sub-forum or topic in here somewhere for discussing media in relation to Transition? I think that topic is crucial -- especially in those US cities and towns where few have yet heard of the Transition Movement/Network. Also, a topic called something like "Recomment Forum Topics Here" may be useful.

Thank you all for your good work! I'm so happy this movement came to my country!

For those interested in the topic of Working Groups, don't miss the December 2nd webinar.

In this webinar we will discuss the function of Working Groups (to support the local transition mission), the formation of the groups (that will reflect the commitment of participants to address local issues) and the expansion of the groups (to encompass like-minded groups already working in the community).

Presented by Karen Lanphear (Transition Trainer and member of Transition Sandpoint, ID), Tina Clark (Transition Trainer from Massachusetts.) and Shaktari Belew (Transition Trainer and member of Transition Ashland) will share their experiences in Transition and coalition building.

This webinar is limited to 100 people so please sign-up early!  We will contact you as soon as the webinar details become available (usually 48 hours prior to the event).

And remember, recordings of all of our virtual training events are made available on the Transition US website.
