Researchers at Stanford University and turned their attention to the growing Transition movement in the US and are hoping to gain more insight through a survey that you are invited to complete. Here is their description of the research they are conducting.
The members of the Transition Movement in the United States are part of a social movement that promotes changes in individual behavior as a collective action. The focus on individual change represents a radical departure from other social movement organizations that have instead used street demonstrations, picketing, lobbying, etc for their actions.
The purpose of this research is to understand how the Transition Movement in the United States promotes the coordination of individual actions and behavior in order to solve large problems, such as a new organization of the economy based on environmental sustainability. As part of this study you will be asked a set of questions that will increase our understanding of how the TUS social network model of activism actually works and what has led to its rapid diffusion. This knowledge can be exported to tackle other problems facing our society.
