Zaida Amaral is a Brazilian environmental architect and community builder with ten years of experience coordinating and facilitating sustainability programs. As the director of Ecovillage Design Southwest in Albuquerque NM, she premiered the UN-certified Gaia Education curriculum in the United States in 2007. As a co-founder of The Sustain Ability Trust, she has inspired neighbors, friends and family members to design their own sustainability visions and worked for 5 years to co-create an urban ecovillage in Albuquerque/ NM, her home town. She has a degree in environmental architecture and urban planning from her native Brazil, and ecovillage design certification from Findhorn Foundation in Scotland. She is a co-founder of Ecovila Cunha in the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil. As principal of Resonance Design, she uses feng shui and green architecture to create sacred spaces for a variety of individual, commercial, and community clients.
