Regenerative Activism: Inner Resilience for Collective Transformation

Sunday, February 23, 2020 - 5:00pm - Monday, March 2, 2020 - 5:00pm

Transition US, Animas Valley Institute, and the Inner Resilience Network are thrilled to invite you on an experiential adventure to regenerate your heart and soul in nature. This weeklong retreat will also be an opportunity for you to experience self-care and support with your fellow change-makers and activists who are leading to freedom from fossil fuel dependency and practices that favor profit over planet.

Through a generous donation, we are able to offer a greatly reduced cost for this program. Because we want to support YOU in your work, we are making this retreat available at less than half the cost of a regular program. We feel it's vital for change-making activists such as yourself to have places to regenerate from the challenges of burnout, overwhelm, depression, and more. It is our intention to hold a deep and transformative space that will help you feel renewed and inspired to carry your work to a new level.

Animas will bring their five-day “Wild Mind” journey, a soul-stirring process of reconnecting to a more nature-based way of understanding and living, and inviting new understandings for your life. Before and after this deep time (Feb 24 & March 2), the Inner Resilience Network will hold an emergent space for self-care, rejuvenation, and integration of inner work into our service. Please note we encourage people to arrive on Feb 23 and will hold an evening welcome on that date.

The Inner Resilience Network and Animas Valley Institute programs will support us in cultivating the personal resilience needed for a more nourishing and life-sustaining culture that is more immune to the stresses of burnout and conflict - moving towards authentic purpose, essential self-care, and collaborative leadership that our world is longing for.

Together, we will learn how to discover and integrate the untapped resources, depths, and potential of our innate human wholeness. We will also learn how to integrate our childhood experiences and transform them into the realization of our true selves.

We’ll explore the landscape of the psyche through a variety of practices, including creative expression, self-designed ceremony, solo exercises while wandering on the land, group work, movement, voice dialogue, journaling, and deep imagery work.

You are invited to this event if you are actively doing change-making work and have an interest in the inner dimension of activism, knowing how much that sustains your outer work and effectiveness. We are offering 15-20 places and expect these to fill up very quickly. Please register with your $200 deposit by January 1, 2020. The balance is due by January 15th.

Animas Valley Institute has generously offered to cover the costs of their Guides’ fees. We at the Inner Resilience Network are doing this as inexpensively as possible, at cost, so that those who can most benefit from this program can be there.  Participants will therefore only need to cover the costs of their accommodation, food, and basic administration expenses.

We are a nonprofit through Transition US and the Inner Resilience Network. We will gratefully accept your tax-deductible donations for this program to support those who would like to be there who otherwise couldn’t.

  • Reduced tuition: $200 (a discount of $600-900)
  • Organic Vegetarian Meals:  $150 for the week ($25/day for 3 meals)
  • Accommodations: $300 for inside bed (shared rooms) or $150 for camping for the 6 days
  • Total cost: $500-$650

We are also offering a few work trades and additional scholarships on top of this already greatly discounted program.

To contribute to our scholarship fund to support low-income and POC activists to participate, please donate via the Inner Resilience Network here.

Location: We are excited to be holding this retreat at a very special desert wilderness retreat center called Aravaipa.  The time of year we will be there is ideal for the desert. You can learn more about the retreat center at

Transportation: Flights, trains, and buses all go to Tucson, Arizona, a lively and progressive hub. We will be working out carpools for people to get to the location, which is about 90 minutes from Tucson.
