Transition US and local initiatives are partnering on a collaborative crowd-funding campaign for Transition Streets, an award-winning program to build resilience, reduce the carbon footprint of entire neighborhoods and save hundreds of dollars on energy bills.

16,477 Actions for Resilience!
Highlights from this year's Community Resilience Challenge, which mobilized more than 16,000 actions building resilience in communities across the US. THANK YOU to everyone who joined us in rising to the Challenge!

State of a Nation in Transition
It’s time for the Transition US annual survey! Please take a few minutes to tell us what’s happening in your Transition group. The survey will inform Transition US programming and contribute to research on how Transition initiatives are influencing policy.

This month we welcome the 151st Official Transition Initiative, Transition Bozeman, Montana!

Jamaica Plain New Economy Transition (JPNET), MA organized a new economy tour of Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood as part of the New Economy Coalition Conference. Many projects highlighted on the tour, like JP Local First, Egleston Community Orchard, the JP yard-sharing program, and State of the Neighborhood forum were catalyzed or organized by JPNET. Transition Town Media, PA opened a volunteer-operated Free Store to keep unwanted items out of landfills and encourage reuse and recycling. Supported by a seed grant from Shareable, The Free Store will also serve as a community gathering space and office for Transition Town Media and the Media Timebank. Read more…

Sustainable Berea, KY received a federal grant under the Livable Communities Project to design and create a 1.4 acre urban farm in downtown Berea. Read more…

As part of the Community Resilience Challenge, Transition Town Charlotte, VT expanded the garden at their local library, which was launched as part of the 2012 Transition Challenge to provide fresh produce to the Charlotte Food Bank. Read more…

Transitioners in Wayland, MA; Staunton, VA; Washington, DC; Sarasota, FL; and other communities across the country are distributing Post Carbon Institute’s Public Energy Art Kit (PEAK) to increase energy literacy in their communities.

As part of the PEAK campaign, Lindsay Curren of Transition Voice organized an interactive art exhibition titled "#EnergyReality: Art in the Age of Energy Decline" at a local gallery. Learn more about Lindsay's plans for PEAK in Staunton in this short video.

Seeing Systems: Northwest Earth Institute's Model for Community Building and Transformative Learning

In this webinar, Lacy Cagle, NWEI’s Director of Learning and Engagement, will facilitate a ‘taster’ session of NWEI’s newest discussion course, Seeing Systems: Peace, Justice and Sustainability. The interactive session will overview an ecosystems perspective, environmental justice issues, stories of positive change, and tools for community action. Additionally, Lacy will discuss the educational and behavior change principles behind NWEI’s discussion course model for those who are interested. Each webinar attendee will receive a free sampler of the Seeing Systems discussion course book, as well as discount code for 10% off the full course book.

PEAK Takes the US by Storm!
Over the last two months, Post Carbon Institute has gotten more than 30,000 copies of the Public Energy Art Kit (PEAK) into the hands of partners and activists. We're gearing up for a final push to get the provocative, visually compelling PEAK posters into as many public places as possible.
