Transition West Marin plans a packed day of climate action

In honor of’s INTERNATIONAL DAY of CLIMATE ACTION, Transition West Marin and West Marin Commons are holding a: Climate Action Rally Power Down Challenge Day, and Low Carbon Fair

Saturday Oct. 24, 2009, 12 noon-4 pm, Third St., Point Reyes, CA

Demonstration march (bring signs) and rally  at 12 noon on Route One and Third St. Express your demand that the Copenhagen climate treaty in December requires adoption of 350 ppm to prevent irreversible climate change!

protestsignThe powerdown challenge: Can you go without fossil fuels for one day? That includes electricity, gas, appliances, phones, TV, computer, cars…can you do it? How low can you go? Turn it off, turn it all off! (Or reduce as much as possible!) Try it on the 24th! And have fun doing it!

Save emissions and come via car pool, electric car, stage coach (leaves Inv at 9:35 am, Bolinas at 10:34 am and San Geronimo at 8:41 am and 12:11 pm. See schedule), bicycle, horse back, electric bike, walk, jog, rickshaw, solar car…whatever! Join carpools and bike caravans leaving from downtown Inverness, Bolinas, Tomales and the San Geronimo Valley Community Center at 11 am to arrive in Point Reyes by noon. Bikes will be parked in a special bike corral area with free bike valet service.

As part of Transition West Marin’s International Day of Climate Action event in Point Reyes on Oct. 24,  there will be a Emissions= Zero! Critical Mass Bike Ride. Transition West Marin members Sarah Hampton and Anny Owen, both of Bolinas, will be riding their bicycles from Bolinas to Point Reyes (14 miles) to demonstrate their demand that 350 CO2 ppm be included in the Copenhagen summit treaty this December.

They will be leaving at 8 am from the Bolinas School and arriving in Point Reyes for the Climate Action Demonstration and Rally. For safety sake, they truly hope to have a Critical Mass for thetwo-hour treacherous ride.
